June - Feeling Accomplished then Overheated

The Best Bike Ride in the West - Lake Tahoe
Six of my biking friends and I decided to ride around Lake Tahoe - 72 miles at 6,000' elevation!!  We made a girls' weekend of it and spent a couple days getting used to the altitude and thinking of the 72 miles.  YIKES - we thought over and over again.  In the end, it was an amazing time.
Heading up Emerald Bay - Feeling Good at Lunch

There were UPS and DOWNS, then the FINISH !!
The ride was a great experience.  It was exciting, hard, fun and tiring all at the same time.  I special thanks to my cousin for making our ride some easier by "sagging" for us and being our personal photographer.  All the support and camaraderie was AWESOME!!

June - HEAT WAVE !!
June brought the first 100 degree heat of the summer.  And it was HOT!!  A week of 107 - 109 days!!  To beat the heat, I biked into work and took light rail or the bus home in the evening.
6AM in the Morning!!
It was surreal to leave the house on my bike at 6AM in the morning in shorts and short sleeves and not be chilly at all. Most mornings it was hovering at 70F.    By the time I arrived at work, 1 hour - and 12 miles - later, I was hot and ready to be cooped up in the AC building all day.

I logged 209 miles in Jun, for a total of 1,66 miles towards my 2,017 annual goal.  I am way head of my goal, so there is plenty of time to hike and camp this summer and still meet my biking goal.
